Ramsar List

• India has added two bird sanctuaries from Bihar, Nagi and Nakti, to the ‘Ramsar Sites’ list, taking the tally to 82.
• The newest ‘Wetlands of International Importance’, both man-made reservoirs situated in the Jhajha forest range of Jamui District in Bihar, were added to Ramsar Sites as part of World Environment Day‌.
• The two catchments feature dry deciduous forests surrounded by hills.
• With the two sites, India now equals China in terms of Ramsar Sites.

Foreign Exchange Reserves

• India’s foreign exchange reserves have surged by 4.83 billion dollars to touch a new lifetime high of 651.5 billion dollars in the week ended 31st May.

UPI Lite Wallet

• Reserve Bank has proposed to bring an auto-replenishment facility for UPI Lite wallet.
• UPI Lite facility currently allows a customer to load his UPI Lite wallet up to Rs 2,000 and make payments up to Rs 5,000.

Repo Rate Unchanged At 6.5%

• Reserve Bank of India decided to keep the policy repo rate unchanged at 6.50 percent.
• Consequently, the Standing Deposit Facility rate remains at 6.25 percent and the Marginal Standing Facility rate and the Bank Rate at 6.75 percent.
