Diplomatic Conference of WIPO
- The Treaty on Intellectual Property, Genetic Resources and Associated Traditional Knowledge was adopted at the Diplomatic Conference held under the aegis of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, between May 13 and May 24, 2024.
- This is the 27th treaty under WIPO and the first in the last 10 years.

WTO’s Agriculture Committee Meeting
- During the meeting of the World Trade Organisation(WTO) ’s agriculture committee in Geneva, a group of WTO member countries, including Brazil, Canada and the European Union, have urged India to submit timely notifications on sugar subsidies in the World Trade Organisation.

CMERI’s Electric Tiller
- Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, Director General,Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)& Secretary, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) unveiled the Central Mechanical Engineering Research institute’s Electric Tiller in Durgapur.
- The CSIR-CMERI’s innovative technology is tailored to meet the requirements of small to marginal farmers, who constitute over 80% of the nation’s farming community.

World Health Statistics Report 2024
- According to the annual World Health Statistics Report 2024 released by WHO, the proportion of deaths from non-communicable diseases (NCDs) rose to 73.9 percent by 2019 and the share of communicable diseases dropped to 18.2 per cent.
