India's wheat production

  • India's wheat production for the 2024-25 marketing season is projected to reach nearly 106 million tonnes, marking less than the government estimate of 112 million metric tons.
  • The major wheat producing states in India are Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar and Gujarat.
  • India is the world's biggest wheat consumer and grower after China.

Sumit Nagal

  • Indian tennis player Sumit Nagal has become first ever Indian to win main draw match at Monte Carlo Masters.
  • He also becomes the first-ever male Indian singles player to win a Masters 1000 match on clay.
  • He is only the third Indian to feature in the main draw in Monte Carlo after Vijay Amritraj in 1977 and Ramesh Krishanan in 1982.

AI, BIAL sign pact

  • India's first military grade geospatial satellite manufactured in the private sector has been successfully launched and placed in orbit.
  • Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) & Satellogic launched TSAT-1A, India's first private sub-metre resolution earth observation satellite.
  • The satellite was launched from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida.
