PM-JANMAN Scheme

 

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the first installment to one lakh beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Gramin under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN).
  • PM-JANMAN was launched for the socio-economic welfare of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) in November last year.

  • In Shooting, India’s Yogesh Singh won a gold medal in the men’s 25m standard pistol event at the Asian Shooting Championships 2024 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

  • Government has invited nominations for Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar-2024 in the field of Science, Technology, and Innovation.

Rare Tibetan Brown Bear

 

  • Rare Tibetan Brown Bear has been discovered in Sikkim.
  • Tibetan brown bear also known as the Tibetan blue bear is one of the rarest subspecies of bears in the world, and is rarely sighted in the wild.
  • It has been accorded the highest protection status under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 ( Schedule-I).
  • It is also listed in Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) as a protected species.
