Central Universities Amendment Bill, 2023

• Lok Sabha passed the Central Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2023 with voice vote.
• The Bill amends the Central Universities Act, 2009, which establishes central universities for teaching and research in various states.
• The Bill seeks to establish a Central Tribal University in Telangana which will be named as  ‘Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University’.

Hanukkah greetings

• Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and PM of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, inaugurated the fourth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, marking the launch of the world's largest concentrated solar power (CSP) project.

• IDFC First Bank has introduced a UPI-based digital RuPay Credit Card for its customers.

• RBI had cancelled the licence of ‘Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd., Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh as the bank had no adequate capital and earning prospects and failed to comply with the provisions of the Banking Act.
