J&K Reservation (Amendment) Bill

• Lok Sabha has passed the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2023.
• The Bill adds that the Lieutenant Governor may nominate up to two members from the Kashmiri migrant community to the Legislative Assembly.

‘Garba Of Gujarat’ 

• UNESCO has approved the inclusion of Gujarat's traditional Garba dance in its `Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity'.
• This decision has been taken at the Botswana convention of UNESCO.
• Garba of Gujarat is the 15th ICH element from India to join this list.

Colombo Security Conclave

• National Security Advisor Ajit Doval arrived in Mauritius to participate in the 6th NSA level meeting of the Colombo Security Conclave.
• The Conclave comprises of India, Sri Lanka, Mauritius and the Maldives.

• PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate ‘Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit 2023’ being held at Forest Research Institute, Dehradun.

• Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani has informed the Rajya Sabha that the Government has decided to implement the component of "Nari Adalat" in a phased manner under Mission Shakti.

“Miyawaki” Plantation Method

• In a bid to boost forest cover in the coal belt region of Chhattisgarh, Coal India Ltd subsidiary, South Eastern Coalfileds Ltd (SECL) will undertake plantation using the Miyawaki method for the first time in its operational areas.
• The Miyawaki method of plantation was pioneered in the 70s by Japanese botanist and expert in plant ecology Mr. Akira Miyawaki.
