Context:

  • The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the setting up of an autonomous body My Youth India (MY Bharat).

 Key Points -

  • My Young India (MY Bharat) will be launched on National Unity Day on October 31, 2023.
  • The autonomous body, My Youth India (MY Bharat), will benefit youth in the age group of 15-29 years, in line with the definition of 'youth' in the National Youth Policy.
  • The components of this program are specifically designed for adolescents, the beneficiaries of which will be adolescents in the age group of 10-19 years.
  • This mechanism will act as a comprehensive technology driven enabling mechanism for youth development and youth led development and provide equitable access to youth.
  • This program will help the youth to become “active drivers” of development instead of being mere “passive recipients”.

Objective -

  • The primary objective of Mera Yuva Bharat is to make it a whole government platform for the development of youth.
  • This system will utilise the immense energy of the youth for nation building.
  • Under the new arrangement, youth will become agents of community change and nation builders through access to resources and engagement with opportunities, allowing them to act as youth bridges between the government and citizens.

 The establishment of 'MERA YUVA BHARAT' will promote the following:

  • Leadership Development in Youth
  • Leadership skills will be improved through experiential learning by developing programmatic skills rather than individual personal interactions.
  • By investing more in youth, work will be done to make them social innovators and community leaders.
  • Better coordination between youth aspirations and community needs.
  • To increase the efficiency of youth by integrating existing programs.
  • To act as a one stop shop for young people and ministries.
  • Creating a centralised youth database.
  • Improve two-way communication to link youth government initiatives and the activities of other stakeholders who engage with youth.
  • Ensuring accessibility while building a physical ecosystem.

  • The youth of India should play an important role in deciding the future of the nation.
  • Realising Vision 2047.
  • The ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ platform will create such a ‘phygital’ ecosystem and empower youth to become catalysts for ensuring community change.
  • A technology platform based ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ youth program will prove to be extremely helpful in enhancing the youth outreach efforts of the department.
