Kashi Sansad Sanskritik Mahotsav 2023

  • Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi addressed the closing ceremony of Kashi Sansad Sanskritik Mahotsav 2023 at Rudraksh International Cooperation and Convention Centre in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
  • He also inaugurated 16 Atal Awasiya Vidyalayas built across Uttar Pradesh and laid foundation stone of the International Cricket Stadium in Varanasi.

Vande Bharat Exapansion

  • Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi flagged off 9 Vande Bharat trains boosting connectivity across eleven states namely Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar, West Bengal, Kerala, Odisha, Jharkhand and Gujarat.

 Norman Borlaug award

  • Fondly called Bihana Didi (Seed Lady) by local communities in Odisha, agriculture scientist Swati Nayak is hounered with the prestigious Norman E. Borlaug Award for 2023 by World Food Prize (WFP).

Kaobal Gali-Mushkoh Valley

  • The high-altitude passes of the Gurez valley in north Kashmir will be connected with the Mushkoh valley, in Kargil’s Drass Sector, Ladakh and it will be opened for tourists. Kaobal Gali, the highest pass at a height of 4,166.9 metres in Gurez, connects the two valleys. The valley is also home to the endangered Himalayan yew.

Endangered Nilgiri tahr

  • After launching Project Nilgiri Tahr last year, Tamil Nadu is now working on a standardised protocol to count the endangered population of southern India’s only mountain ungulate.
  • Nilgiri tahr prefers montane grasslands and majorly found in highly fragmented habitats in the Western Ghats in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, ranging between the Nilgiris in the north and the Kanniyakumari hills in the south.

  • A pair of independent studies, using recent James Webb Space Telescope observations of carbon dioxide ice on Jupiter’s moon Europa, indicate the carbon dioxide originates from a source within the icy body’s subsurface ocean.

  • India observes National Daughters Day on the fourth Sunday of September each year. This day was first observed in 2007 and has since been observed annually to encourage parents to give their daughters additional attention.

 World Deaf Day

  • International Week of the Deaf is celebrated by the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) and its national associations and their affiliates globally during the last full week of September (Monday through Sunday), culminating with World Deaf day on the last Sunday of the week.
