• The Nobel Foundation withdrew its invitation for representatives of Russia, Belarus and Iran to attend this year's Nobel Prize award ceremonies after the decision announced a day earlier “provoked strong reactions.”

Typhoon Haikui

• According to Tropical Storm Risk,Haikui is projected to be categorised as only a Category 1 or 2 typhoon when it makes landfall in Taiwan.
• After passing across southern Taiwan, Haikui is forecast to cross the Taiwan Strait into China.

Sixth Census Report on Minor Irrigation Schemes

• According to the latest report of MIC three-fourths of India’s irrigation sources run on electricity.
• While use of electricity showed a quantum jump from powering only 56% of sources in 2011 to 70% in 2017, the latest report,  shows electricity as powering 76% of sources – a slower growth rate.
