‘Vishwakarma complexes’ 

  • Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday directed the officials concerned to strengthen the concept of 'smart villages' and make Vishwakarma complexes in every village to facilitate rural workforce.
  • The concept aims at providing a platform to rural workforce to showcase their talent under one roof while serving as a place to secure jobs.

‘Naya Savera’ scheme

  • Ministry of Minority Affairs implemented ‘Naya Savera’ scheme also known as ‘Free Coaching and Allied’ scheme to assist students/candidates belonging to the six minority communities namely Sikh, Jain, Muslim, Christian, Buddhist and Parsi by way of special coaching for qualifying examinations.
  • The primary objectives of the scheme are to provide specialized coaching to students.

Vivad Se Vishwas II scheme

  • Recently, the Ministry of Finance has launched the “Vivad Se Vishwas II” scheme to effectively settle pending contractual disputes of Government and Public Sector Undertakings.
  • The scheme was announced by the Union Finance Minister in the Union Budget 2023-24.

President Draupadi Murmu

  • President Draupadi Murmu will address the convocation of Madras University.
  • President Draupadi Murmu to unveil the portrait of late Tamil poet Subramaniam Bharatiyar at Raj Bhavan in Chennai on August 6. 
  • She is also going to rename the Durbar Hall as 'Bharathiyar Mandapam'. 

N. Vittal

  • The Padma Bhushan awardee and IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre, 1960 batch, N Vittal passed away in Chennai.
  • As Chairman of the Telecom Commission, he also initiated the process of liberalisation in the telecom sector and played a major role in getting the National Telecom Policy 1994 approved.

Four Nations Para-Badminton International tournament

  • Ace shuttlers Pramod Bhagat and Sukant Kadam have made it to the semifinals of the 4 Nations Para Badminton International tournament.
  • Pramod Bhagat has made it to the semis in all categories while Sukant Kadam has made it in two categories.

World Archery Championships

  • India had a dream outing in the World Archery Championships with 17-year-old Aditi Swami and 21-year-old Ojas Deotale winning the first ever women’s and men’s individual titles for the country in Berlin.

  • Every year on 6th August, Hiroshima Day is observed.
  • On this day in 1945, the United States dropped atomic bomb on Hiroshima, a Japanese city during World War II.
  • It aims to raise awareness of the tragic consequences of atomic bombings and promote the politics of peace.

Friendship Day 2023

  • Friendship Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of August every year and this year it falls on 6 August 2023. 
  • Friendship Day was first proposed in Paraguay in 1958 by Joyce Hall.
  •  Friendship Day is all about promoting togetherness and kindness, bringing people together. 
  • In 2011 UN General Assembly declared 30 July as an official International Friendship Day.
