Video gaming will be featured as a full sport at the 2022 Asian Games, with competitors in electronic sports set to receive medals for their digital prowess. The Olympic Council of Asia says it will introduce e-sports to the official program of the Asian Games at Hangzhou, China. It will also be a demonstration sport at the 2018 Asian Games in Palembang, Indonesia. India has climbed one spot to the eighth rank in the 2017 A.T. Kearney Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Confidence Index as investors turned bullish on the Asia-Pacific. India, Russia to upgrade military exercises

India and Russia have agreed to upgrade their annual Indra bilateral military exercise to a multilateral level involving the three services. This will be a first for India in bilateral military exercises with any other country. “There will be no separate Army, Navy Air Force Indra exercises with Russia. Trupti Jain an Indian environmental engineer has won this year’s prestigious ‘Cartier Women’s Initiative Awards’ here for providing women working on farms with water management solutions and protecting small farmers against droughts and flash floods. Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh has launched two web applications to check corruption and keep track of government activities. The two web applications are Anti-Corruption Cell and Digital Application for Review by Public & Nation (DARPAN).The two web applications would monitor all government funded projects and ensure transparency and accountability, Biren said launching the applications. DARPAN would upload details of projects right from the initial stage till sanction of fund, progress of work and photos the work sites. Insurance regulator IRDAI has launched a web portal for insurers that will allow them to register and sell policies online. The portal—isnp.irda.gov.in—is also open to intermediaries in insurance business. Last month Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) issued guidelines on e-commerce for insurance sector. Insurers and intermediaries can create a login credential for registration and submit ISNP application form on the portal. In its guidelines issued in March, IRDAI had said that companies may offer discounts to customers if their policies are sold through e-commerce websites.
