The Chief of the Army Staff, General Bipin Rawat, will be conferred the honorary title of General of the Nepalese Army during his ongoing visit to the Himalayan country. The President of Nepal, Bidhya Devi Bhandari, will confer the title of “Honorary General of the Nepalese Army” to Gen. Rawat at an investiture ceremony. Top seven IITs to get Rs. 100 cr. each

The Centre will offer Rs. 100 crore each to the top seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in the coming financial year to improve their quality further with a view to enhancing their global rankings. The IITs chosen are IIT Madras, IIT Mumbai, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee and IIT Guwahati. The IITs will be given Rs. 100 crore so that they can take measures to improve their global rankings. These could be global collaborations or roping in global faculty. ESI mobile clinics launched in India for the first time.

Workers in small industries covered by the ESI facility but unable to access the medical services due to locational problems will have something to look forward with the Government launching Mobile Clinics. Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will be the first states in the country where the facility would be made available initially and later expanded to other parts of the country. The Union Minister for Labour and Employment, Bandaru Dattareya flagged off these mobile clinics that would serve the areas not covered by ESI Dispensaries in Telanagana and Andhra Pradesh. The U.K.’s Vodafone and Aditya Birla group firm Idea Cellular on announced that they have kick started a mega merger deal. RBI has been authorized to conduct field trials of plastic notes of Rs 10 that have a longer life span. It has been decided" to conduct a field trial with plastic banknotes at five locations of the country. Approval for procurement of plastic substrate and printing of bank notes of Rs 10 denomination on plastic banknote substrates has been conveyed. Over the years, central banks across the world have been exploring different solutions like plastic notes and other developments in banknote substrates for extending the life cycle of banknotes. United Nations: released a world ranking of the number of women parliamentarians that has placed India 148, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, the head of UN Women, has called for reservations for women. The rankings of all 193 UN member countries released by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and UN Women showed that women made up 11.8 per cent of the Lok Sabha where 64 were elected to the 542-member house and 11 per cent of the Rajya Sabha with 27 of the 245 members.
